Man to man, face to face, heart to heart. Backgammon, or shesh-besh in Hebrew, is the ideal game for an enjoyable time in Jerusalem. It’s been around for 5,000 years in the region, and is the perfect combination of luck and ability and of creativity and simplicity. Since the opening ceremony in Beit Hanina in the summer of 2016, we have held over 50 festive tournaments throughout all of Jerusalem, with the participation of thousands of players. We were also joined by the leading names in Arabic and Middle Eastern music to join us and bring a real party atmosphere to the events.
This project has turned into the one project most affiliated with the Kulna name and the gospel of Jerusalem Backgammon has been granted much attention since. International and local spotlight has afforded us a platform to share our story with others, and has kept our loyal fanbase thirsty for more opportunities to meet up and play together. There is a sense of genuine pure enjoyment in the company of others.
In the summer of 2021, we were happy and excited to crown for the first time an ultimate Jerusalem Backgammon championess in a beautiful ceremony held in the Old City with 256 players.
We are already looking forward to the coming events that will take place in the spring and summer months of 2022.
